EU Biochar Carbon Removal Standard

Carbon Standards is introducing a new standard: the Carbon Standards EU Biochar Carbon Removal Standard (EU BCR) - a certification methodology for permanent carbon removals from biochar activities, compliant with the EU Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/3012).
Built on our years of experience developing biochar certification methodologies, EU BCR gives the market a dedicated CRCF-compliant certification pathway, alongside our established Global Biochar C-Sink Standard.

Projects certified under the Global Biochar C-Sink Standard can add EU BCR certification Tailored to CRCF requirements, including feedstock limitations and tracking to the C-Sink site for soil application Requires EBC certification of the biochar used in the activity
Why It Matters: EU BCR gives clients certification of credits that are directly comparable to other CRCF credits - a dedicated pathway built specifically for CRCF compliance.
