The Biochar Persistence Evaluation

The new biochar persistence evaluation is an innovation from Carbon Standards International AG. The Global Biochar C-SInk update (Annex) has been coordinated with the scientific community and is based on different scientific publications.

The Global Biochar C-Sink standard distinguishes between two conceptual carbon-sink pools based on persistence probabilities following biochar application to soil. Until last year, these two persistence pools were referred to as persistent aromatic carbon (PAC) and semi-persistent carbon (SPC).
